Our First Date of the Year.
Because I deprived J of a chance to bump and grind with the ladies at MoS on Thursday, I decided to go catch a movie at Cineleisure - only to find that there weren't any shows worth spending our money on. We were slowly walking down the escalator, wondering if we should stop by The Balcony, when my eyes caught sight of the rows of ice-cream outside Maestro Cafe. Still I was abit reluctant about eating there until I saw the words 'Chocolate Fondue' gleaming like diamonds on the menu. J made the decision before I did, and we walked into the cafe.
Now, I'm a fussy chocolate lover. No choc ice-cream for me, nor choc milkshakes, but I'm always a sucker for fondue. Nothing else quite beats the feeling of slowly dipping strawberries and bananas into the dark, warm, creamy quicksand of Belgian chocolate, and then anticipating, as the bittersweet taste of the heavenly combo bursts into your mouth. Quite like sex, don't you think?
We waited quite awhile for the fondue to arrive, and frankly, I didn't have much expectations about it because the last few times we ordered fondue at other cafes, they were largely overpriced and disappointing. Imagine how huge my eyes grew when bowls of strawberries, pineapples, pears, peaches, bananas, marshmallows, brownies and chopped nuts appeared one by one at our tiny table. That was not dessert. It was a meal for 4. Thank god there were not much people at the cafe anymore, or they would have caught sight of 2 really greedy-looking monkeys gobbling at the fruits in front of them.
It was complete. 2 of us, at a cosy candle-lit table for 2, sharing playful glances over a pot of heaven, taking candid photos of each other with chocolate all over our lips... who'd have thought that we'd still have it in us?
